I’m not going to tell you anything new about it, you can find hundreds of reviews and videos about it. For example DanTDM’s video, entitled WORLD’S MOST USELESS WEBSITES!!, Published on Jan 10, 2016, registered 10,999,934 views at the time this article was written Nov 1, 2017. According to alexa’s site info, theuselessweb.com, ranks 50,205 globally and 17,940 in the United States. You would think that US is where all the traffic comes from, but no, only 43.7% (more or less) of the visitors. Small but steady increase, that’s the way to do it. With quality content, fast page loading speed and good SEO you can’t fail. Some changes in the top 5 also theuselesswebindex drops on 3 and the youtube video takes the 2nd place. RootReport climbs on 4 and the top is closed with a new-entry a weebly free website, not sure how it got here.
Useless Websites has the same estimated number of searches as the useless web, and approximately 15.600.000 results on google search. In comparison, the useless web will only offer 1.810.000 results. The first 5 results are: theuselessweb.com (what a surprise), theuselesswebindex.com (another big player that ranks very good for a large number of keywords) the podium is closed by pointlesssites.com, followed by a YouTube video called The Most Useless Websites On The Internet uploaded by Reaction Time. Next we have an article from ROOT REPORT from October 5, 2017. Updated that is, I know for a fact that the article is older by the comment I posted on February 19, 2017 telling them about a dead link for haneke.net (R.I.P.) suggesting them to use a link to my page, for the blue ball machine, which never happened. Yes, they still have a broken link! Feel free to let them know also.

Well, that’s a serious climb! Changes in top 5 include discuvver changing places with theuselesswebindex, boredbutton is out and stumbleupon takes the 4th place. Pointlesssites also gone leaving the spot for worlds’s most useless websites video.
That’s lame! Results like this make you wanna close and go home and hide in bed. I will try and find the power to continue though, at least look at a few more keywords before that. Maybe I find some good positions to make my day sweeter. Take me to a random website no. 1 position is taken by… guess who? TheUselessWeb! (no prize for knowing that) 2nd place is discuvver.com, a very simple website, sending useful websites to your inbox every week. One of the guys behind this, Mat Carpenter, is also responsible for hardcoreprawnlawn. I wonder if that’s one of the useful websites that he sends. 3rd place theuselesswebindex, 4th place boredbutton.com I guess you all know this one. On the 5th place we find pointlesssites.com (nice job)

Not good, not good at all! Seems like It wasn’t just me, blogrankseo is out of the top.
Not again! WHY WORLD, WHY? Should I go on with this? OK, I’ll do it or you! Weird websites top 5: theuselessweb(yes, them again) We have something else on position 2, a post from bornblogger.net they receive a fair amount of traffic, and that is because, let’s face it, they are good. Not necessarily at writing content (English is not his first language, mine either!)I found a link in his comments, Zaman from smnpost.com made a very insightful SEO analysis of his post really worth reading. If either of them could offer me some tips to freaking get to top 100 at least I would be very thankful! Let’s continue with 3rd place where we come upon another blog post this time from blogrankseo.com. In my eyes it looks very similar to the one from bornblogger.net (not saying he copied it, just drew some inspiration) On the 4th place we have rootreport.com again, It seem they really enjoy making lists about useless / weird websites. Final place in this top 5 is random-ize.com, a website I used previously to randomly pick a name from a list. They also have a random button for “Weird, Odd, Funny and Interesting Websites”.

Well, 92 is better than nothing, so I’m seeing this as a victory. I will skip the 1st position because we all know it and go to the next one. Steemit.com, to be honest this is the first time I heard of this website (global alexa rank 2187) shame on me! “Your voice is worth something. Join the community that pays you to post and curate high quality content.” This is on the home page of the website. Funny thing is the page that ranks for theuselessweb on the 2nd position only brought the user $0.02 from 3,756 views. No 3 theuselesswebindex again, on no 4 we have producthunt.com, with a page for theuselessweb.com, upvoted by 485 people and voted #1 Product of the Day
September 19, 2014. On the final position of the 5 for this keyword we have tvtropes.org they offer a wiki page for theuselessweb.com with a short description: “This is a website created by Tim Holman that contains a link to several user submitted websites that have little to no practical use. A lot aren’t even interactive at all.”

This position looks promising (if compared to the previous ones) The king is once again the one who shall not be named. Runner up is pointless.com, 3rd place is pointlesssites.com This two websites are related, not similar, related as relatives (brothers) born from the same mother but offer different interaction. Pointless.com offers an user interface similar with the one from theuselessweb.com, a button that randomly takes you to useless websites. It’s resembles theboredbutton even better. They both open the websites in a frame, never leaving their website, unlike how theuselessweb.com handles things. Pointlesssites.com, on the other hand, offers the visitors links to “pointless and useless sites that are completely pointless, don’t have pop ads, are original, are useless, are not offensive and make you smile – family friendly fun. Also known as extremely useless sites, random sites, useless websites, pointless websites, time wasters, pointless pages, pointlessness and pointless webpages… ” their words not mine. The websites are grouped into categories, they also feature sections like our favorites and showcase, There is also a trending top 40 on every page where you can vote for your favorites. On the 4th place we have random-ize.com, doing a good job at ranking for related keywords (also ranking 4 for weird website, see above) At 5 we have root report again ranking with the post on useless websites.

Starting with the undefeated champion we go to the 2nd position to find random-ize.com once again hitting one of the first 5 places. Next is our straight to inbox pals from discuvver that we mentioned earlier and on 4 is a new entry, never discussed. Whatsmyip.org, besides others, also have a tool called random website machine. Not surprised about this one, with 115.000.000 results on google, kind of hard to climb on the first results. I will skip the first place( you know why! you don’t??? because of the omnipresent, omnipotent, Mr. No.1 on all keywords, that’s why) 2nd place is occupied by Thesaurus.com a website described by themselves as: “Thesaurus.com is the world’s largest and most trusted free online thesaurus brought to you by Dictionary.com. For over 20 years, Thesaurus.com has been helping millions of people improve their mastery of the English language and find the precise word with over 3 million synonyms and antonyms and the ability to filter search results by relevance, word length, and complexity.” On the page dedicated to useless we can find that it’s an adjective and a list of Synonyms, of which we can note: not working, not valuable, counterproductive, fruitless, futile, hopeless, idle, impractical, incompetent, ineffective, ineffectual, inoperative, meaningless, no good, pointless, stupid, unproductive, unworkable, worthless, good for nothing, inutile, of no use, purposeless, unpurposed, unusable, vain, valueless, waste. Going down the page we also find a list of Antonyms for useless, for example: useful, helpful, worthwhile, etc. You can also find the definition, the first recorded mention and quite a lot more info if you are drawn by the subject. Enough said here, let’s move to the 3rd place where merriam-webster.com sits comfortably giving us the definition of useless, showing us some examples of useless in a sentence, recent examples of useless from the Web, first known use of useless, USELESS defined for kids (being of or having no use), a learn more about useless section with some link and a nice comment section. The comment section reads:”What made you want to look up useless? Please tell us where you read or heard it (including the quote, if possible).” Only one comment there but really made my day it goes like this: “Just woke up dis mornin and heard ma dad tellin some1 that*he is useless* and it made worried and I check d meanin but itz a veri bad word 2 use coz God made us all usefull in one way or d oda….” Yeah man, you tell them! Time for number 4 where we find another dictionary website dict.cc, this time a English-Deutsche dictionary. Here you can find that useless translates to nutzlos, sinnlos, wertlos, unbrauchbar, unnütz, zwecklos or untauglich. They really do deserve this place after all this quality info. Last one, standing on 5 a dictionary also, but not any dictionary, MACMILLAN ! One thing to mention that the other dictionary lacked is the offensive side of the word, explained neatly: “OFFENSIVE if someone is useless, they are not any help to you or are not capable of achieving anything; Don’t ask Jeff – he’s useless!” Poor Jeff!

Thanks to the keywords phrase match in the domain name we have a decent position on this one. Decent for anyone who settles with no traffic coming from one of the most important keywords. 1 theuselessweb.com, 2 theuselesswebindex, on 3 hitting something interesting, stumbleupon.com. This is also similar to theboredbutton website only difference is that they call the button stumble, and show all kinds of websites, “Discover the best of the web, one click at a time” as they like to say. It also has a like feature, and the stumble for theuselessweb.com got more than 200k. 4th place swapped by a forum post from democraticunderground that got around 694328 views in 5 years. Rootreport grabs again a spot in top 5 with the useless websites article.

Getting closer! (to less humiliation maybe) The top 3 is identical with the one from take me to another useless website. The first difference comes on the 4th place where we can find a youtube video, the same one from the “useless websites” keyword( Reaction Time). On 5 we have a Pinterest pin ( I guess that’s what it’s called) telling us to: “Explore Fun Websites, Awesome Websites, and more!” the more part is the one i’m interested in. I think. I never figured out this Pinterest thing so I’m not the best person to recommend it.

Getting there, Hopefully on the next update we will reach top 5.
This is the keyword that this article focuses on. As you can see it doesn’t shop up in the SERP at this time. After the post is published constant updates will be made, to monitor how this impacted the ranking. The goal is to take one of the first 3 top positions on google search for the term Useless Website Finder.
